Home Work

Today, it seems like the 'home office' is just as important as the kids 'Home work' area. A place where you can focus on getting it done and then walk away and leave it behind.

Our home office, Wayne's study is still a 'work in progress', so check back to see how it finishes out (I will update photos once it is complete). I wanted to allow him some creative liberty over at least one room in the house... any good wife would do as much...right?! But once we moved in, he was still un sure what he wanted so I will be turning my mind to finishing it off shortly.

The kids spaces though I knew how I wanted to be from the get-go! The twins both homeschool on the same days and so collaborate on a lot of things. They needed storage space and also space for themselves too. This homework space is built in to what would have been dead space in our roof line, along a corridor that gives access to the rooms above the garage. But there was not going to be any dead space in our floor plan, no way! Being the designer of the home we simply had the architect draw the roof pitch slightly higher and add in a window (as low as we could put it) and open out the corridor a bit wider. And 'voila' our long dark corridor became a perfectly functioning study area, flooded with natural light.

Our youngest has his work area set in another nook further down the corridor just by the top of the stairs. It feels cozy yet open and again turned what would have been wasted space into another functional space. Love it!
