Clean and Tidy
The design of a laundry room and mudroom have to be ALL about functionality, but that doesnt mean they cant look pretty.
If you're building a home, you may want to consider a few things relating to your laundry room. You don't want it to be so far away that you have to carry basket loads of washing across the house. But on the flip side, you don't want the laundry room next to your master bedroom in case you have to run a load at night. Its also preferable to have it near an outside wall so the ventilation can be its most efficient.

A laundry room doesn't have to be a place of doom and gloom though. It can be bright and airy. I chose to make the walls super white to accent the pop of color in the cabinets instead. I thought this was fun! I also love the fact that i have a window and lots of storage for, well all of those things which ultimately find their home in the laundry room.

With a large family, it ultimately means that the mudroom area becomes a high traffic area and how is it that you always end up with so many pairs of shoes everywhere. So in our mudroom I designed deep tall cabinets to hide everything away in, But still have the cubby drawers for the kids shoes they wear most often. And we wanted to make sure we had enough space and light coming into the space as possible and the result is a lovely functional space, that for the most part conceals the chaos of all of our belongings. Job done.
